AMERICAN LEGION POST 84
MSGT. C.T. FARRIS(RET.)6/1933 - 6/2013
He served in the Air Force and retired as a Master Sargent. C.T. transferred from Post 13 to 84 when it was moved to Havana from Quincy. He was an 11 year veteran of the American Legion and served as SGT-AT-ARMS at Post 84. He was also an active member of VFW Post 3308 in Tallahassee.
Captain Edward Melaine
(RET.)2/1920 - 1/2014
He served in the US ARMY during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Captain Melaine received three Purple Hearts and two Silver stars. Captain Melaine was a 20 year member (Paid Up for Life) of Post 84. He was one of five members of Post 84 before the Post changed from Quincy to Havana. Ed passed away December 2013 and was laid to rest January 10, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife and left 2 daughters and a son. Members of Post 84, Chapter 84 and the Patriot Guard stood a flag line in his honor at the grave site where he was given a 15 gun salute.
