4th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER

The Post had its 4th Annual Christmas Dinner for Veterans at Risk. We fed over 200 Veterans and their families. The local Elks Lodge provided the hall and dinner was donated by MILLERS ALE HOUSE for the second year in a row. The Post was honored to have FSU Veterans, and others to help server dinner. I will never forget the smiles and tears of joy I saw today. Members of the Post, Unit, and Chapter 84 did the America Legion proud today. The kids were not forgotten either. Santa Claus Mrs. Claus came loaded with present for all. Santa was assisted by some volunteer Wrecker Companies by bring in the toys on their wreckers since we did not have snow YET. Deane Green (VA Clinic) coordinated the efforts at the VA. Thanks to who help make this years Dinner a success, AGAIN!!!!!

WOUNDED WARRIOR ESCORT

By: Emily Johnson, WCTV.TV

October 13, 2013

Tallahassee, FL - The kickstands went up Sunday morning as the motorcycle brigade headed to the Tallahassee Regional Airport. The Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Post 84 and the Vietnam Legacy Vets all wanted to escort the wounded warriors from the airport to a fishing trip in Wakulla. "Well these guys give a lot for our county. Our military is all volunteer now there's no draft. And they go over there and risk their lives for our county and to preserve our freedom," said Don Reeder, Ride Captain for Patriot Guard Riders.

The all expenses paid trip includes four days of fishing on the Ocholocknee Bay ending with a banquet on Thursday. The organization Warriors and Quiet Waters is responsible for putting the fishing trip together for the wounded warriors. "We bring traumatically injured veterans or warriors out of the hospitals and out of the wounded warrior battalions on active duty down here for a week in Tallahassee, Ocholockonee Bay and show them our hospitality and our gratitude," said Anthony Stephens, Warriors and Quiet Water Southern Chapter

For the volunteers the escort is to honors the ones who have served our country. "Whatever we can do to help the wounded warriors effort and everything else that's what we're here for. That's our primary priority, and that's why we're out here today," said Jim Brennan, American Legion Post 84 Havana, FL.
